Switchboard repair & replacement: old switch plate with a round-pin socket on a worn wall
Electrician30-day warranty included

Switchboard repair & replacement

Takes about 1 hr

When a switchboard has a cracked plate, scorch marks or several switches failing together, fixing one switch at a time stops making sense. The electrician inspects the board, checks the wires coming into the box and either repairs the faulty parts or fits a new board on the same wiring.

The job starts from the price shown on this page, which covers a simple board. Larger modular boards, extra switches or a regulator are quoted before work begins, and you buy or approve the board and switches first. If the box itself or the wiring behind it is damaged, that is explained and quoted separately.

Each wire is marked before removal so every switch goes back to the light or fan it controlled. Keep the area under the board clear so the electrician can work safely on a ladder if needed.

What's included

  • Inspection of the board, switches and incoming wires
  • Faulty parts repaired, or a new board fitted on existing wiring
  • Wires marked so each switch controls the same point
  • Verified electrician with hand tools and testing instruments
  • Safety check of the circuit worked on
  • 30-day warranty on the work done

What's not included

  • New board, switches or regulator, quoted and agreed before fitting
  • Rewiring behind the board
  • Chasing walls for a new box

How the visit goes

  1. 1

    Supply isolated

The electrician switches off the circuit and confirms the board is dead.

  2. 2

    Board inspected

They check for burnt contacts, loose wires and cracked plates, then tell you what needs replacing.

  3. 3

    Wires marked and moved

Each wire is labelled so every switch goes back to its own light or fan.

  4. 4

    Board fixed or fitted

Faulty parts are replaced or the new board is mounted and connected.

  5. 5

    Every switch tested

Each switch and socket on the board is tested with you before the electrician leaves.

What we need from you

  • The new board and switches if you have chosen them
  • Access to the main board or MCB box
  • Clear space below the board

Questions about this service

Will the switches still control the same lights?

Yes. The electrician marks every wire before disconnecting it, so each switch goes back to the point it controlled.

Can I change to a modular board?

Usually yes, if it fits the existing box. The electrician checks the box size and quotes any change before starting.

Are spare parts included in the price?

No. If a part or material is needed, the electrician quotes it and fits it only after you agree.

What if the problem comes back?

If the work done stops working within 30 days, we come back and fix it at no charge.
