Fan repair: wooden ceiling fan spinning
Electrician30-day warranty included

Fan repair

Takes about 1 hr

A ceiling fan that hums, wobbles, runs slow even on full speed or will not start usually has a weak capacitor, a worn bearing, a faulty regulator or a loose connection at the canopy. The electrician checks the supply, the regulator and the fan itself to find which one it is.

What you pay from the price shown on this page is a simple repair on a regular ceiling fan. A capacitor, bearing or other part is quoted before fitting. If the winding has burnt out, the electrician tells you so you can decide whether a repair or a new fan makes more sense. BLDC and smart fans are not covered by this service.

Tell us how the fan is behaving when you book, and keep the area under it clear for a ladder.

How the visit goes

  1. 1

    Fault described

You show the electrician how the fan is behaving at each speed.

  2. 2

    Supply and regulator checked

They test the switch and regulator first, so the fan is not blamed for a regulator fault.

  3. 3

    Fan inspected

The canopy is opened and the capacitor, wiring and bearing checked.

  4. 4

    Repaired and tested

The fix is made once you approve any part, and the fan is run at every speed.

What we need from you

  • A clear area under the fan
  • A sturdy ladder if you have one
  • Details of how the fan is behaving

Questions about this service

Why does my fan run slowly even on full speed?

A weak capacitor is the most common cause. The electrician tests it and quotes a replacement if needed.

Can you repair a BLDC fan?

Not under this service. BLDC and smart fans have electronic boards that need the maker's service.

Are spare parts included in the price?

No. If a part or material is needed, the electrician quotes it and fits it only after you agree.

What if the problem comes back?

If the work done stops working within 30 days, we come back and fix it at no charge.
