MCB/fuse replacement: row of MCBs in a distribution board
Electrician30-day warranty included

MCB/fuse replacement

Takes about 40 min

When an MCB will not reset, feels loose, smells burnt or a rewireable fuse carrier is damaged, it needs replacing. The electrician switches off the main supply, removes the old MCB or fuse, checks the busbar and wire ends for burning, fits a new one of the right rating and tests the circuit.

The job starts from the price shown on this page, which covers one MCB or fuse. The new MCB or fuse is quoted before fitting. If the circuit itself is faulty, the electrician tells you, since a new MCB will keep tripping until that is fixed.

The job takes about 40 minutes. The main supply will be off for part of the visit, so save your work and switch off sensitive appliances.

Questions about this service

What rating will the new MCB be?

The electrician matches the rating to the wire and load on that circuit, usually the same as the old one.

Will the power go off during the job?

Yes, the main supply is off while the MCB is changed, usually for a short part of the visit.

Are spare parts included in the price?

No. If a part or material is needed, the electrician quotes it and fits it only after you agree.

What if the problem comes back?

If the work done stops working within 30 days, we come back and fix it at no charge.
