How the visit goes
- 1
Find the catch point
The carpenter swings the door and marks where it drags or fails to latch.
- 2
Fix the hinges
Hinge screws are tightened, or the holes are packed so the screws bite again.
- 3
Plane if needed
A swollen edge is planed back just enough to clear the frame.
- 4
Close and confirm
You check the door shuts and latches before the visit ends.
What we need from you
- Point out where the door sticks
- Any replacement hinge or stopper you have bought
- Room to open the door fully

Questions about this service
Why does my door drop at the handle side?
Usually the top hinge screws have loosened in their holes. The carpenter packs the holes and refits the screws so the door lifts back into line.
Can I add a door stopper in the same visit?
Yes. Pick the door stopper or new lock fitting add-on while booking if it is listed on this page.
What if the frame is damaged?
Frame repair is not in this job. The carpenter tells you what is needed and the price, and nothing is done until you agree.
