Motor installation: blue domestic water pump connected to black pipes
Plumber11% off30-day warranty included

Motor installation

Takes about 1 hr

A new water motor has to sit firmly and be connected without air leaks, or it will run without lifting water. A verified plumber positions the motor, connects the suction pipe from the sump or line and the delivery pipe to the tank with proper unions, fits a non-return valve if your setup has one, and primes the pump before the first run.

The visit takes about an hour, at the fixed price shown on this page. Buy the motor and fittings beforehand. A working electrical point near the motor is needed. New wiring, a starter or a new socket is electrician work and is booked separately. The plumber runs the motor until water reaches the tank.

What's included

  • Motor positioned and mounted firmly
  • Suction and delivery lines connected with unions
  • Non-return valve fitted where your setup has one
  • Pump primed before the first run
  • Run test until water reaches the tank
  • 30-day warranty on the fitting

What's not included

  • The motor and fittings, bought by you
  • Electrical wiring, starter or socket work
  • Borewell and submersible pump installation

How the visit goes

  1. 1

    Place the motor

The plumber sets the motor close to the suction point on a firm, dry base.

  2. 2

    Connect the pipes

Suction and delivery pipes are joined with unions, sealed to keep air out.

  3. 3

    Fill the pump

The pump is filled with water so it can pull from the first start.

  4. 4

    Run and check

The motor is switched on and run until water reaches the tank, while joints are checked.

What we need from you

  • The motor and its fittings
  • A working electrical point near the motor
  • Access to the sump or tank

Questions about this service

Will you do the electrical connection?

The plumber plugs into a ready point. New wiring, a starter or a socket is electrician work.

Can you install a submersible or borewell pump?

No. This service covers surface water motors.

Why fill the pump with water first?

A dry pump cannot pull water and can be damaged. Priming fills it so it lifts water from the first run.
